Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Joe Antilla had 2 goals and 1 assist in an 8-4 win over the Regina Pats in WHL action on Thursday night.
Pats opened the scoring on a powerplay as Hampus Gustffson scored on a screened shot from the blueline.
ICE tied the game early in the second as Brock Montgomery deflected a point shot from James Martin.
The ICE took a 2-1 lead on a 3-on-2 rush as James Martin joined the rush and received a pass in the middle slot and slid one in along the ice through the goalies legs.
Less than 2 minutes later Joe Antilla came down the left wing and fired a shot that went in on the short side.
Just over a minute later the Pats made it 3-2 as Jordan Weal deflected a Brett Leffler shot.
ICE would score 2 goals 29 seconds apart to wrap up the second period. Max Reinhart scored on a 2-on-1 break after batted in a high pass from Jesse Ismond.
Reinhart then became playmaker as he fed Matt Fraser on a back door play and he connected with a one time slap shot.
In the 3rd period Cass Mappin banged in a rebound to make the score 5-3.
Next shift the ICE Kevin King came off the boards and was open in the slot for a high wrist shot to make it 6-3.
On a 2-man advantage Dustin Sylvester came out of the corner and scored with a wrist shot low on the stick side.
Joe Antilla stole a puck at the Pats blueline and scored with a high wrist shot.
Pats ended the scoring as Craig Orfino from the corner scored with a shot that went off an ICE player into the net.
ICE scratches – Dominik Pacovsky 15th game (ankle 3 weeks), Luke Paulsen & Christian Magnus.
Pats starting goalie was Brett Martyniuk who made his 1st start with Regina after being acquired in a deal with Tri City this week. Pats goalies Damien Ketko (shoulder) and Dawson Guhle (groin) are both out with injuries.
The Past were missing 7 other players … 3 to injuries with Brandon Davidson (knee), Killian Hutt (concussion), Dominick Favreau (knee) … 2 players to the WJHC with Jordan Eberel and Colton Teubert with Team Canada … 2 players at the U-17 tournament with Myles Bell (Pacific) and Taylor Bortsmayer (West).
ICE will host Saskatoon on Wednesday.
