The Canadian Hockey League announced that defenceman Brayden McNabb of the Kootenay Ice is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 20. McNabb recorded nine points in three games scoring three power play goals and adding six assists.
McNabb led the Ice to a perfect 3-0-0-0 record on the week beginning with a 6-4 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday night. McNabb was named third star of the game with a goal and two assists in the contest. The Ice wrapped up the week with a home-and-home series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes with McNabb scoring a goal and an assist in the 8-2 road win on Friday night before scoring a career-high four points at home on Saturday with a goal and three assists as second star of the 6-1 win.
McNabb, an 18-year-old from Davidson, SK, is playing in his third full WHL season with the Ice. Selected in the third round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, McNabb currently ranks fifth amongst WHL defencemen with 35 points in 29 games.
