ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 26-22-2-6 record (16-9-1-3 at home, 10-13-1-3 on the road, 7-2-6 in overtime) and in seventh place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and 11th overall in the WHL…This week the ICE will host EDMONTON (February 11) before traveling to RED DEER (February 13) then returning home to play the REBELS (February 15) to conclude the week.

CAMPBELL SOUP NIGHT: When the ICE host the EDMONTON OIL KINGS on February 11 it will be CAMPBELL SOUL NIGHT…Fans in the attendance will have the opportunity to win CAMPBELL’S CHUNKY SOUP jerseys and an ICE jersey.

KELLOGG’S NIGHT: When KOOTENAY hosts the RED DEER REBELS on February 15 it will be KELLOGG’S NIGHT…Fans at the game will have the opportunity to test their puck handling skills to win their very own hockey sticks courtesy of KELLOGG’S.

PLAYOFF PACKAGES AVAILABLE: 2009 playoff packages are now available until Friday, February 27th at the KOOTENAY ICE Office…Eight game ticket packages are $120.00 for Adults, $96.00 for Seniors and Students, and $64.00 for Youth…For more information on playoff packages, phone 417-0322.

EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS: The KOOTENAY ICE have announced that EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS for the 2009-2010 season will be the lowest prices ever…Adult tickets will be $399, Seniors (65+ before September 18 with valid ID) $299, Students $249 (25 and under with a valid Student ID) and Youth $199 (4 to 12 years old)…These prices will be in effect until Friday, May 29…For more information call the KOOTENAY ICE Office at 417-0322.

SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP: This year KOOTENAY will be facing off against the rest of the CENTRAL DIVISION for a different kind of trophy…The SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP tallies points from head-to-head meetings in the CENTRAL DIVISION and the team with the most points in those head-to-heads at the end of the regular season will be awarded the SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP…Fans can get involved by answering weekly trivia questions to win prizes…To get to the CHALLENGE CUP webpage click on the link at www.kootenayice.net

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 11-9-0-3 against the CENTRAL DIVISION and 21-14-2-5 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE this season…The ICE are 15-0-1-0 when leading after the second period, 4-19-0-4 when losing and 7-3-1-2 when tied…KOOTENAY is 18-3-1-1 when they score the first goal of the game and 8-19-1-5 when their opponent scores first…The ICE are 18-13-2-4 when outshooting their opponent, 7-8-0-2 when being outshot and 1-1-0-0 when the shots are tied…ANDREW BAILEY, who has played in 272 consecutive WHL games dating back to 2005-2006 season, is tied for tenth in the League in power play goals with ten…TYLAN STEPHENS, who recorded his 100 WHL career point February 8 in CALGARY, needs to play in seven more games to reach 200 WHL career games…IAN BARTEAUX needs to play in five more games to reach 200 WHL career games.

INJURIES: STEELE BOOMER and NATHAN LIEUWEN will both be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with concussions…DUSTIN SYLVESTER will be out of the ICE line up seven to nine weeks with an ankle injury…TYLER VANSCOURT will be out of the KOOTENAY line up two to four weeks with a shoulder injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 56 games of the 2007-2008 season the ICE 32-18-4-2, after 57 games 33-18-4-2 and after 58 games 33-19-4-2.
