ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 28-23-2-6 record (18-9-1-3 at home, 10-14-1-3 on the road, 2-2 in overtime and 6-6 in shootouts) and in seventh place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and 11th overall in the WHL…This week the ICE will travel to SWIFT CURRENT (February 20), SASKATOON (February 21) and PRINCE ALBERT (February 22) before returning home to host PRINCE ALBERT (February 25).

SHAW NIGHT: When the ICE host the PRINCE ALBERT RAIDERS on February 25 it will be SHAW NIGHT…Fans in the attendance will have the opportunity to win a HD PVR or club seats to the February 27th game.

ED CHYNOWETH / JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: When the ICE host REGINA on February 27 it will be JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT…Fans at the game will have the opportunity to bid on the 2008-2009 game worn white jerseys…The winning bids will get to meet the players and will receive their jerseys at the conclusion of playoffs…All monies raised will go to the KOOTENAY ICE Scholarship Fund…Also that night the CITY OF CRANBROOK will be honoring the memory of former ICE PRESIDENT ED CHYNOWETH prior to the start of the game which will include the unveiling of a special banner.

PLAYOFF PACKAGES AVAILABLE: 2009 playoff packages are now available until Friday, February 27th at the KOOTENAY ICE Office…Eight game ticket packages are $120.00 for Adults, $96.00 for Seniors and Students, and $64.00 for Youth…For more information on playoff packages, phone 417-0322.

EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS: The KOOTENAY ICE have announced that EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS for the 2009-2010 season will be the lowest prices ever…Adult tickets will be $399, Seniors (65+ before September 18 with valid ID) $299, Students $249 (25 and under with a valid Student ID) and Youth $199 (4 to 12 years old)…These prices will be in effect until Friday, May 29…For more information call the KOOTENAY ICE Office at 417-0322.

FAMILY PACKS: The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday home games during the 2008-2009 season…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.

DID YOU KNOW: The ICE lead the League in overtime games with 16 (2-2 in overtime and 6-6 in shootouts)…KOOTENAY is 10-5-2-2 against the EAST DIVISION and 23-15-2-5 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE this season…The ICE are 16-0-1-0 when leading after the second period, 5-20-0-4 when losing and 7-3-1-2 when tied…TODD MATHEWS recorded his first WHL shutout against EDMONTON on February 11 (25 saves)…ANDREW BAILEY has played in 275 consecutive WHL games dating back to 2005-2006 season…TYLAN STEPHENS needs to play in four more games to reach 200 WHL career games…IAN BARTEAUX needs to play in two more games to reach 200 WHL career games.

INJURIES: NATHAN LIEUWEN will be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with a concussion…DUSTIN SYLVESTER will be out of the ICE line up five to seven weeks with an ankle injury…TYLER VANSCOURT will be out of the KOOTENAY line up one to three weeks with a shoulder injury…STEELE BOOMER will be out of the ICE line up week to week with a concussion.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 59 games of the 2007-2008 season the ICE 33-20-4-2, after 61 games 34-20-4-2 and after 62 games 35-20-5-2.
