Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE goalie Todd Mathews made 25 saves for his 1st career shutout in 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in WHL action on Wednesday night.
ICE opened the scoring while shorthanded as Kevin King fired a wrist shot high on the glove side. It was King’s 1st career shorthanded goal.
The Oil Kings missed played the puck in their zone and it rolled to a wide open Max Rein Reinhart near the net who scored on a wrist shot low on the stick side.
ICE made it 3-0 late in the 2nd period as Dominik Pacovsky’s dumped the puck into the zone from centre ice and it bounced through the goalies’ legs.
The crowd was the biggest at the Rec-Plex this season.
ICE scratches – Nathan Lieuwen (concussion indefinite, 6th missed game), Tyler Vanscourt (shoulder 2-4 weeks, 8th missed game), Dustin Sylvester (ankle season ending, 19th missed game), Steele Boomer (concussion indefinite, 16th missed game).
The ICE will visit Red Deer on Friday.
