ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 29-25-2-6 record (18-9-1-3 at home, 11-16-1-3 on the road, 3-2 in overtime and 6-6 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and tenth overall in the WHL…This week the ICE will host PRINCE ALBERT (February 25) and REGINA (February 27) before traveling to MEDICINE HAT (February 29).

PLAYOFF PACKAGES AVAILABLE UNTIL FRIDAY: 2009 playoff packages are now available until Friday, February 27th at the KOOTENAY ICE Office…Eight game ticket packages are $120.00 for Adults, $96.00 for Seniors and Students, and $64.00 for Youth…For more information on playoff packages, phone 417-0322.

SHAW NIGHT: When the ICE host the PRINCE ALBERT RAIDERS on February 25 it will be SHAW NIGHT…Fans in the attendance will have the opportunity to win a HD PVR or club seats to the February 27th game.

ED CHYNOWETH / JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: When the ICE host REGINA on February 27 it will be JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT…Fans at the game will have the opportunity to bid on the 2008-2009 game worn white jerseys…The winning bids will get to meet the players and will receive their jerseys at the conclusion of the playoffs…All monies raised will go to the KOOTENAY ICE Scholarship Fund…Also that night the CITY OF CRANBROOK will be honoring the memory of former ICE PRESIDENT ED CHYNOWETH prior to the start of the game which will include the unveiling of a special banner.

EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS: The KOOTENAY ICE have announced that EARLY BIRD SEASON TICKETS for the 2009-2010 season will be the lowest prices ever…Adult tickets will be $399, Seniors (65+ before September 18 with valid ID) $299, Students $249 (25 and under with a valid Student ID) and Youth $199 (4 to 12 years old)…These prices will be in effect until Friday, May 29…For more information call the KOOTENAY ICE Office at 417-0322.

FAMILY PACKS: The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday home games during the 2008-2009 season…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.

DID YOU KNOW: The ICE lead the League in overtime games with 17 (3-2 in overtime and 6-6 in shootouts)…KOOTENAY is 24-17-2-5 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE this season… KOOTENAY is 17-1-1-0 when leading after the second period, 5-21-0-4 when losing and 7-3-1-2 when tied….The ICE are 21-3-1-1 when they score the first goal of the game and 8-22-1-5 when their opponent scores first…ANDREW BAILEY had his consecutive games played streak end at 276 games on February 20 in SWIFT CURRENT, it was the second longest streak in franchise history (289 consecutive games – ADAM TAYLOR – 2000 – 2005)…TYLAN STEPHENS needs to play in one more game to reach 200 WHL career games…IAN BARTEAUX played in his 200 WHL career game February 21 against SASKATOON.

SCORING STREAKS: TYLAN STEPHENS (2-3-5) has recorded a point in each of his last four games…MAX REINHART (1-2-3) has recorded a point in each of his last three games.

INJURIES: NATHAN LIEUWEN will be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with a concussion…DUSTIN SYLVESTER will be out of the ICE line up four to six weeks with an ankle injury…TYLER VANSCOURT will be out of the KOOTENAY line up one to three weeks with a shoulder injury…STEELE BOOMER will be out of the ICE line up week to week with a concussion…ANDREW BAILEY will be out of the KOOTENAY line up day to day with a shoulder injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 62 games of the 2007-2008 season the ICE 35-20-5-2, after 63 games 36-20-5-2 and after 64 games 37-20-5-2.
