ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 5-3-0-1 record (3-1-0-0 at home, 2-2-0-1 on the road, 0-0-1 in overtime) and in second place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and tied for eight place in the WHL…This week KOOTENAY will host EDMONTON (October 19) and RED DEER (October 22) before opening up a three game CENTRAL DIVISION road trip October 24 in EDMONTON (October 26 –MEDICINE HAT, October 27 – CALGARY).
TEAM CAPTAIN: Defenseman BRAYDEN MCNABB, a 19-year-old from DAVIDSON, SK, has been named Captain for the 2010-2011 season…MCNABB is the 15th Captain in franchise history…MATT FRASER, STEELE BOOMER and KEVIN KING have been named Assistant Captains.
ROSTER UPDATE: The ICE have 24 players on their roster, including two goalies, seven defensemen and 15 forwards…KOOTENAY has called up Forward SAM REINHART (November 6, 1995) for tomorrow night’s game against EDMONTON…REINHART was the pick first pick of the ICE in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft and currently plays for the VANCOUVER NW GIANTS of the BCMML where he has ten points in six games (6-4-10).
EKCCU PUCK TOSS NIGHT: When the ICE host the RED DEER REBELS on October 22 it will be EKCCU PUCK TOSS NIGHT…Fans in attendance will be able to support FOOD FOR KIDS by purchasing a puck and tossing it onto the ice in the second intermission for some great prizes.

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 12th in the WHL in overall power play (16.7%)…The ICE are 16th in the League in overall penalty killing (76.6%)…ERIK BENOIT recorded his first WHL career point with an assist against REGINA on October 16…MAX REINHART, who leads the team in plus / minus with a plus nine, recorded his 50th WHL assist against the PATS on October 16…MATT FRASER needs to play in one more game to reach 200 games played with KOOTENAY…JAMES MARTIN played in his 100th game with the ICE on October 16 against REGINA…NATHAN LIEUWEN recorded his fifth WHL career shutout and second of the season on October 12 against REGINA (14 saves).
INJURY: BRAYDEN MCNABB will be out of the KOOTENAY line up day to day with a shoulder injury.
ONE YEAR AGO: After ten games of the 2009-2010 season the ICE were 4-6-0-0, after 11 games 4-7-0-0 and after 12 games 5-7-0-0.
