Kootenay 3 Medicine Hat 2 Game #13

Medicine Hat, Alb – The Kootenay ICE scored 2 3rd period goals to extend their winning streak to 5 games with a 3-2 win in Medicine Hat in WHL action on Tuesday night.

The Tigers led 2-1 after 1 period as Dylan Busenius and Curtis Valk scored their 1st career goals.

While trailing 1-0 the ICE pressured the Tigers in their zone. Joey Leach’s point shot bounced off the end boards and came out in front to Joe Antilla who scored his 5th goal of the season.

Antilla tied the game early in the 3rd period as he was near the crease and banged in a Christian Magnus rebound.

Game winning goal came on the powerplay as Matt Fraser busted through 2 Tigers to get into the low slot a fired a wrist shot high on the glove side.

The ICE lost Hayden Rintoul in the 2nd period to an injury and did not return.
James Martin left the game in the 2nd period and returned in the 3rd period with a new jersey and wearing a full cage. His nose was cut after receiving a body check and his visor scrapped his face.

ICE will be in Calgary tomorrow.

Cranbrook’s Rob Niedermayer, who is also a former Medicine Hat Tiger, left the Buffalo Sabres yesterday to be with his wife Jessica who gave birth to a girl. They now have 3 kids.
