Kootenay 4 Edmonton 3 SO Game #12

Edmonton, Alb – The Kootenay ICE extended their winning streak to 4 games with a 4-3 overtime shootout win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in WHL action on Sunday afternoon.

After giving up a shorthanded goal the Ice tied the game on a delayed penalty as Joe Antilla through a pass to the low slot that was redirected by Joey Leach.
ICE took a 2-1 lead as Hayden Rintoul’s point shot was stopped but Steele Boomer backhanded the rebound into the net.

In the 2nd period the ICE trailed 3-2 but would tie it on a 3-way passing play on a powerplay. Christian Magnus fed Drew Czerwonka and who quickly got the puck to Jesse Ismond who all alone at the back door and scored on a one-timer.

The ICE won the shootout 2-0 on goals by Matt Fraser and Jesse Ismond, plus 2 saves by Nathan Lieuwen.
ICE are 3-0 in career shootouts against Edmonton.

ICE Scratches – Brayden McNabb (7th game shoulder day-to-day), Brendan Hurley (1st game hand injury 5-6 weeks).

ICE are in Medicine Hat on Tuesday.
